Frequently Asked Questions

About the FC50

What is the FC50 Smart Food Waste Disposal?

The FC50 is a countertop kitchen appliance that reduces food waste by drying and grinding it into a dry organic material.
It helps reduce household food waste volume and can turn kitchen scraps into a reusable soil conditioner.

How much food waste can it process?

The FC50 can process up to 2 kg of food waste per cycle, depending on the type of food and moisture level.

How much electricity does the FC50 use?

Actual electricity consumption will vary depending on the amount and moisture content of the food waste.
A typical cycle may use around 1–2 kWh of electricity, depending on the cycle length and drying level.

Most cycles take about 6–8 hours, but may run longer for wetter food waste.

Is the machine noisy?

No. The FC50 is designed for indoor kitchen use and operates at around 40–50 dB, similar to a quiet dishwasher.

Many users run the machine overnight.

Does the machine produce smell?

The FC50 uses an activated carbon filter to absorb odours during operation.

With a fresh filter, smell is minimal and suitable for indoor use.

Can I leave food waste in the machine before starting?

Yes. You can add food waste throughout the day and start the cycle when the container is full.

What Food Waste Can Be Processed?

What food waste can I put in the FC50?

The FC50 can process most common kitchen scraps, including:

• fruit and vegetable peels
• cooked leftovers
• coffee grounds
• eggshells
• bread and grains
• small bones

What should not go inside the machine?

Avoid putting extremely hard items such as:

• avocado pits
• peach pits
• large bones
• non-food items

These may damage the grinding system.

FC50 Care & Usage Guide

Do I need to remove the protective film from the display?

Yes.

The FC50 display screen is covered with a thin protective film for transport protection.
Please remove the film before using the machine, as leaving it on may affect touch sensitivity.

Do I need to remove the plastic wrapping from the carbon filter?

Yes.

Please remove the plastic wrapping before inserting the carbon filter.
The carbon filter must be installed correctly for proper deodorising performance.

Why does the FC50 cycle sometimes run for more than 8 hours?

The FC50 default setting is designed to produce a fully dried, fine PlantMix result.

Because food waste moisture levels vary, the cycle may run 8 hours or longer depending on the amount and moisture content.

The machine will automatically stop once full dryness is detected.

Can I stop the machine earlier?

Yes.

After approximately 6 hours, the food waste is usually well dried but may still have a slightly moist texture.

If you prefer this texture, you can stop the machine and remove the contents.
If you prefer a completely dry result, simply allow the cycle to continue.

Why does the blade not rotate in deodorising mode?

This is normal.

In deodorising mode, only the internal fan operates to circulate air through the carbon filter.
The grinding blade does not rotate in this mode.

Do I need to wash the inner bucket after every cycle?

No.

The FC50 fully dehydrates food waste, so the interior remains dry after operation.

You can continue adding food waste between cycles and clean the bucket only when visible residue builds up.

How should I clean the inner bucket?

When cleaning the bucket:

• Use a soft sponge
• Avoid metal scrubbers
• Ensure the bucket is fully dry before the next use

Is it normal to see marks or wear inside the bucket?

Yes.

You may notice minor surface marks or small areas of coating wear inside the bucket over time.
This can occur from normal grinding of food particles and is cosmetic only.

It does not affect safety or performance.

How can I minimise wear inside the bucket?

To minimise wear:

• Avoid large bones and very hard shells
• Do not use metal utensils inside the bucket

Carbon Filter

What is the carbon filter for?

The carbon filter removes odours produced during the drying process.
It contains activated carbon pellets that absorb smells before air exits the machine.

How often do I need to replace the carbon filter?

The carbon filter typically lasts around 6 months with normal household use.

If the machine is used very frequently or processes strong-smelling food waste, it may need to be replaced sooner.

Where can I buy replacement filters?

Replacement carbon filters are available on our website.
