A typical cycle takes around 6–8 hours, depending on the amount and moisture level of the food waste. Wetter or larger loads may take longer, and the unit will stop automatically once the process is complete.

What can I put inside the FC50?

You can process everyday kitchen scraps such as fruit and vegetable peels, cooked leftovers, bread, rice/pasta, coffee grounds, tea leaves, and eggshells in normal household quantities.

How often do I need to replace the carbon filter?

Filter replacement depends on usage and the type of food waste, but a common guideline is around every 6 months. If you notice odors increasing sooner, replace the filter earlier for best results.

Avoid liquids (soups/oils), non-food items (plastic/metal/glass), and very hard items that may damage the unit. For best performance, limit very wet loads and cut oversized scraps into smaller pieces.

Q: Does the FC50 produce compost?

The FC50 does not produce traditional outdoor compost. It reduces food waste by drying and grinding it into a nutrient-rich soil conditioner (PlantMix). For gardening, we recommend mixing it into soil rather than placing a large amount directly onto plant roots.

Three boards for everyday prep — firm under a blade, steady on the bench.

Where the cycle begins. Most of what feeds the FC50 starts on a board — the trimming, the peeling, the ends of the week's vegetables.

This three-piece set is made from wood fibre: 80% wood cellulose bound with 20% resin, pressed into boards that are 6mm thin and gentle on knife edges. Three sizes sit together beside the sink — small for fruit and quick jobs, medium for the everyday, large for the Sunday roast and everything around it.

The surface is dense and hard-wearing, tested to ISO 22196 for antibacterial performance, and independently tested to EU food-contact standards. When the prep is done, they go straight in the dishwasher.

Yes. The FC50 works immediately after setup. The only consumable part is the carbon filter.

What should I avoid putting inside the FC50?

Leave out bones, soups and liquid-heavy foods, fruit pits and hard seeds (avocado, mango, peach), and anything non-food such as plastics, metals or glass.

How long does the FC50 cycle take?

Cycle time depends on the load. Dry scraps can finish in around five hours; a typical mixed load runs overnight. The FC50 adjusts its drying time automatically and stops on its own once the contents are dry.

How often should the carbon filter be replaced?

Most households replace the carbon filter about every six months, depending on usage. Replacements are available as a single, 2 pack or 4 pack.
