3L/6L Compost Bin

Warm off-white powder-coated steel, a slim wire handle, and a carbon filter in the lid that keeps odours in check. Where plastic caddies stain, hold smells and get hidden under the sink, this one is made to sit on the bench — and stay there.

Made to sit out, not hide away

The powder-coated steel body, coated inside and out, wipes clean easily and shrugs off the marks a plastic caddy collects. The lid is vented through its carbon filter — air passes through, odours stay in check. No latches to work; the lid lifts with one hand.

Two sizes, two ways to use them

3L — the everyday collector. Holds 3.9 litres to the brim. It sits beside the chopping board, gathering peels, grounds and offcuts through the day.

6L — for bigger kitchens, or the next step in the cycle. Holds 6.2 litres to the brim. A generous caddy for larger households — and for FC50 owners, the place where PlantMix waits and matures before it meets the soil.

Part of the cycle, if you want it

Prep on the board. Gather in the bin. Process overnight in the FC50, and return the result to the garden — PlantMix matures in open soil, mixed through at around 10–20%, over two to four weeks. One kitchen. One cycle. And the bin does its job just as well if collecting is all you need.

Worth knowing

• The finish is a warm off-white — softer than pure white, with a gentle cream undertone, a shade warmer than the FC50's matte white.
• We name our bins conservatively — the tin says 3L and 6L, but measured to the brim they hold 3.9 and 6.2 litres.
• The lid filter lasts around six months. It is not washable — an occasional airing in the sun helps it along — and it is a different filter from the FC50's, so the two are not interchangeable.
• Emptying collected scraps every few days is still the best habit, particularly through an Australian summer.
• Care: hand wash with mild detergent and a soft sponge, then air-dry upside down. Not dishwasher safe.
• Each bin is covered by a 12-month warranty against manufacturing faults, in addition to your rights under the Australian Consumer Law.
