The FC50 is the considered choice for Australian households that want to close the kitchen loop — without the mess, the installation, or the odour to manage. Drop in your scraps, press start, and by morning what was heading to landfill has become PlantMix: dry, ground, and ready to mature back into soil.

The Ritual

Built for the rhythm of everyday cooking.

Most kitchen habits happen without thinking. The FC50 is designed to be one of them.

Drop in your scraps after cooking. Press start. By morning, what was heading to landfill has become PlantMix — dry, ground, and ready to mature before it goes back to the soil.

There is no plumbing to install and no special bags to buy. The 1kg activated carbon filter keeps odours in check before they reach the room. The low-vibration motor runs without drawing attention. The matte-white body fits without interrupting.

Some things should earn their place in your kitchen. This is one of them.

The Cycle

One kitchen. One cycle.

The FC50 is the second step in a system built around the food–scrap–soil loop — a flow that begins at the chopping board and ends in your garden.

On cycle time

Cycle time depends on the load. Dry scraps can finish in around five hours; a typical mixed load runs overnight. Wetter foods — citrus, leafy greens — take longer, and the FC50 stops on its own once everything is dry.

On PlantMix

What comes out is dried, ground food scraps — not finished compost. It keeps breaking down after the cycle ends, so it works best mixed into open soil at around 10–20% and left to mature for a few weeks. Our guide walks through where it works well and where to hold back.

On the filter

The 1kg carbon filter is what keeps odours in check. It typically lasts around six months, with replacements from $30 — available as a single or 4 pack. We flag this upfront because we think it is worth knowing.

On installation

No plumber, no electrician. The FC50 plugs into a standard Australian power outlet and sits on your benchtop. That is all.

On rebates
